Ana Mijić is currently a Visiting Professor at the CEU's Nationalism Studies Department, a position she has held since January 2022. 

She pursued her studies in sociology and political sciences (with a focus on international relations/peace and conflict studies) at the University of Tübingen in Germany.

Following her graduation, she worked as a research assistant at the Berghof Foundation’s Institute for Peace Education in Tübingen (09/2005-10/2007) and commenced her doctoral studies in sociology at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (06/2006-10/2007). In 2007, Ana Mijić transitioned to the Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna, where she successfully completed her doctoral studies. Her doctoral research concentrated on identity-related postwar transformations in Bosnia-Herzegovina. 

Throughout her academic career, she has been a fellow at the IFK International Research Center for Cultural Studies in Vienna (10/2011-06/2012) and at the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts & Humanities Research Institute at Trinity College Dublin (09/2012-06/2013), University of Dublin.

Ana Mijić's research is theoretically grounded within the sociology of knowledge and primarily focuses on identity and ethnicity, as well as peace, conflict, postwar dynamics, and migration. She is the author of Verletzte Identitäten  (2014, Campus) and many articles published in edited volumes and international journals such as the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Journal for Refugee Studies, International Journal for Qualitative Methods, Ethnicities, Identities: Global Studies in Culture and Power, and Human Studies.  

Since receiving her doctoral degree she worked on the projects Postwar Diaspora(s): Cosmopolitan Nationalism (Principle Investigator, funded by the FWF Hertha Firnberg Programme 2015-2021), The Art of Arriving - Reframing Refugee Integration (Co-Principal Investigator,together with Michael Parzer, funded by the FWF 1000 Ideas Programme, 2021-2023), "Nach/Hause" (Coming Home) (Principle Investigator, funded by the City of Vienna (MA7), 2024). Her new reserch project Creating Identity out of War and Migration was approved by the FWF in March 2024.
