Ana Mijić

Ana Mijić is Visiting Professor at the CEU's Nationalism Studies Department and a senior researcher at the Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna. She studied sociology and political sciences (international relations/peace and conflict studies) at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and worked as research assistant at the Berghof Foundation’s Institute for Peace Education, Tübingen, and at the Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna, where she completed her doctorate studies. Her doctoral research focussed on the identity-related postwar transformations in Bosnia-Herzegovina. She was a fellow at the IFK International Research Center for Cultural Studies in Vienna and at the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts & Humanities Research Institute at the Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. Theoretically based within the sociology of knowledge her research focuses on identity and ethnicity, on peace, conflict, postwar and migration. Ana Mijić is author of “Verletzte Identitäten” (2014, Campus) as well as of several articles published in international journals (e.g., Journal for Refugee Studies, International Journal for Qualitative Methods, Ethnicities, Identities. Global Studies in Culture and Power, or Human Studies) and edited volumes. Her previous research project “Postwar Diaspora(s): Cosmopolitan Nationalism” was funded by the FWF Hertha Firnberg Programme, and her current research "The Art of Arriving - Reframing Refugee Integration" (together with Michael Parzer) by the FWF 1000 Ideas Programme.
