PhD Minor in Nationalism Studies
For students interested in studying Nationalism Studies at the doctoral level, CEU offers a Minor in Nationalism Studies under the auspices of the Nationalism Studies Program (NSP) and the Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations (DSPS).
Any doctoral student who is admitted to the DSPS can choose to pursue a Minor in Nationalism Studies. Students pursuing this minor must take 8 credits in courses offered by the NSP, including the specially-designed PhD course, “Critical Approaches to the Study of Nationalism.” This course examines scholarly approaches to the study of nationalism, drawing on a wide range of theoretical and empirical literature, beginning with discussions of key concepts and classical debates in nationalism studies, followed by an exploration of more recent methodological considerations regarding the study of nationalism, ethnicity, and group identity.
Doctoral students pursuing a Minor in Nationalism Studies can take a wide range of courses offered by our permanent and visiting faculty.
