Gina Waldman

Forgotten Refugees  

Gina Waldman has a stunning personal story—born in Libya, persecuted and nearly murdered while escaping during her brutal expulsion from her homeland in the aftermath of the Six-Day War in 1967. She worked tirelessly for the past 35 years against of human rights abuses from Chile during the Pinochet regime to the former Soviet Union. She testified before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva and the U.S Congress on the issue of Jewish Refugees from the Arab Countries. She is the recipient of the prestigious Martin Luther King Humanitarian award. Gina is the President and co-founder of JIMENA (Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa) based in San Francisco, Ca.
