CEU Community Conversation: Making Sense of the Austrian Parliamentary Elections. What next after 29 September?

CEU Community Discussion: Making Sense of the Austrian Parliamentary Elections. What next after 29 September?
The elections to Austrian parliament (Nationalrat) on 29 September for the first time saw the far-right FPÖ come out as the strongest party, with a share of 28.9% of the vote, while the parties in government suffered considerable losses. This may be seen as part of a wider, international trend towards right-wing, authoritarian or ‘populist’ politics but has also uniquely local dimensions.
In this event, open to everyone at CEU, we will discuss the elections, their results, what they will mean for the country and the future and will do our best to answer all your questions.
Speakers: Ruth Wodak (CEU and University of Lancaster), Rainer Bauböck (CEU and European University Institute, Florence)
The event is organised by the Nationalism Studies Department and is open to all members of the CEU community.
When? Tuesday, 15 October 17.30 to 19.10
